By now you already know my style of ecriture. Just sit at the piano and play random chords.

But with movement III I had one rule:

"Use elaborated quart chords"

Meaning:

Do - fa - sib - mib - lab

or

re - sol - do - fa - sib

And just append these chords randomly after each other.

Then you just add a flavour of this melody and your delicious soup is ready to be served.

I proudly present you my first 'unfinished' string quartet played LIVE by my personal string quartet (thanks).

They didn't practice that much so it sounds a bit off pitch. There are many mistakes in it too.

(Yeah I've been busy you know )

There are three parts:

1) Andante: a large introduction
2) Largo: trying to make a scenery here
3) Allegro (unfinished): using many kwints. It has a mid section, but is supposed to be repeated. They were too lazy to repeat the beginning till "fine"...


Harmony wise I tried to be very conservative going into romanticism: Rebecca Clarke, Schoenberg's string quartet, Saga Frontier I, Chausson. I realized that string players don't like to play too pianistically. I'm a pianist, so... I didn't really write for strings. They don't like to make huge jumps. The cello didn't have many problems though. Also, two string players playing in the same frequency range gives awkward sound.

Cool, what do they eat, do you have to feed them once or twice a day ?

It seems to be really cool, i like the colors of this music. It's difficult to hear and differentiate each instrument because of the non stereo recording. But it reminds me old movies in black and white, like Hitchcock's movies.
I really love the last part ! It's a really great job !

Yeah, it seems to be pretty hard to orchestrate for an other instrument than yours.

Great ! Quelle chance de pouvoir faire jouer ses oeuvres par un quatuor, j'aime beaucoup les couleurs, l'andante est très beau. Dommage pour le bruit du micro. Comme francois, j'aime beaucoup la dernière partie, avec son harmonie très joyeuse et originale.

- Dirge of Cerberus: eg. Calm before the Storm, Ten Year Reunion, Splinter of Sadness, Forgotten Tears.

J'adore les deux accords de fin !
Je trouve que le dernier fait très Hisaishi, comme dans le début de Tasmania story de son concert à Tokyo, ou encore comme dans les deux accords de quartes de la fin de la mélodie "drifting in the city".

du tout bon, avec dosage bien de chez toi entre le jazz, moderne troublant et kawaii du soleil levant.

Ouak.. quelle improvisation ! J'adore toujours autant ce magnifique mélange de styles. Je suis d'accord avec Setzer pour la ressemblance avec Hisaishi sur la fin, à 1:03 ca fait très thème des Miyazaki, c'est vraiment magnifique !

que je me réécoute encore et encore !

Quelle couleurs, joie et précision, le tout dans une orchestration sobre et directe. Je trouve toujours que le sommets d'émotion à 0'33'' n'est pas suffisant, et je pense que tu pourrais remanier la partition pour placer une sorte de break vers 0'49'' pour conduire à un véritable thème de sommet.
