Bonjour!

Je suis flamand mais aussi chinois, vous pouvez voir une influence chinoise/japonaise dans mes compositions: surtout Masashi Hamauzu, Yoko Kanno et Hitoshi Sakimoto.

J'ai commencer à composer dans l'année 2005. Je ne savais rien de la qualité de la musique composée sur l'ordinateur. Un jour quelqu'un a dit à moi d'essayer FLStudio alors je l'ai fait. J'experimentais avec des sf mais ça ne donnait pas la qualité que je voulais. Ma recherche me conduisait à "VST" et maintenant je suis encore en train d'experimenter avec Edirol, EWQLsilver et GPO.

Mon ordinateur: 256 mb RAM, Celeron 1,1 GHz, FLStudio 6, Noteworthy Composer, pas de keyboard (avec 256 mb RAM, pas de question)

Well, what to say ? I sincerly hope that your talent will be used in the near future, in music industry. You're indeed very inspired by Masashi Hamauzu's works, and as a huge "fan" of this god^^, I'm of course very touched by your way to bring emotions. I feel kinda depressed to see someone to have such a mastery of harmony and melody. Whatever^^. It's funny to see you're using FLStudio too. You're definitely someone I'd love to work with^^.

P.S. : I did not find "Summer Garden" and "It's too late" .

Hehe, I feel a little embarassed to show Summer Garden and It's too late because it sounds AWFUL!!

Summer Garden was my first piece ever and very experimental. I tried to combine live instruments with synths. Hey, do you hear something from Dirge of Cerberus in this song!!! See 0:39 in the summer garden song. It uses the same sequence as in the tune "A proposal".

And It's too late was an experimentation on "emotions". I tried to vary dynamics and tempo but it sounded even worse. The problem is that I can't get FLStudio to playback for me, so I have to render the whole thing every time, then make a change to dynamics, render it and so on... It takes a lot of time. Now I'm learning layering with solo violins and strings.

But I'll post it there now to let you hear how bad it is. Really experimental.
I wish I could make more music but I'm in my last year of Chemical Engineer now and I have a lot to do...

Alors, je ne sais pas lire tout ça. Je pense que c'est quelque chose comme: Tu sais parler la langue Chinoise? J'aime votre...

Introduction and Presto: Je suis devant le piano, je joue un peu et tout à coup je trouve des modulations. Il faut jouer des accordes sur le piano, seulement jouer. Si ça ne sonne pas bien ce n'est pas grand chose. Mais il ya un moment (après 15 minutes ou parfois après 1 heure) où vous trouverez la modulation que vous cherchez. Alors j'écris les accordes en 2/2 et c'est tout. Puis je trouve une mélodie pour cettes accordes.

Flying to the Clouds: Je suis devant le piano de nouveau et joue un peu et tout à coup je trouve la séquence: re fa la si do sol mi re. Et j'improvise sur ceci. Puis je pense a Hamauzu et mon thème favorite: Girl Named Shelke. Et j'implémente ça dans ma chanson. Ensuite je pense a Yoko Kanno et Burning Mountain (Nobunaga's ambition) qui fait le mid-parti de la chanson. (l'utilisation du violon et piano Chinois/Japonais) Vous voyez! Il faut entendre aux beacoup de chansons pour savoir où prendre les thèmes que vous voulez utiliser. (moi je prends toujours mon mp3 portable avec moi)

Il faut savoir que les premières notes que j'ai écrit sont les notes au milieu de la chanson. (re fa la si do sol mi re) C'est après cela que j'ai écrit l'introduction...

L'orchestration? D'abord je pense: quels instruments est-ce que je vais utiliser? Puis j'ajoute les instruments un par un. J'écoute au midi et puis ajoute un autre instrument.

Le percussion est quelque chose different. J'écoute d'abord aux sons du VST en puis je prends les sons qui semble intéressant et je les implémentes dans la chanson. Les percussions: triangle, tambourin, wood blocks, wind chimes, cymbales, harps, snare, gong et certainement les pizzicatos sont trés importants pour donner l'emotion épique que vous pouvez entendre au fin. (si j'avais d'autres sons je les utilisais aussi, mais j'ai seulement EWQLsilver...)

! Le "rhythm" dans Shopping in Town est un produit d'ajouter les percussions un par un. C'est l'enrichement graduel qui le fait sonner bien.

PS: ce n'est pas possible de participer au noctaventures parce-que l'orchestration que j'utilise est trop grand pour le faire dans un jour... vous pouvez voir tous les percussions que j'utilise avec 256 mb RAM...

Do something creative with a classical song (fil rouge 2), a bit difficult for me, I'm really not that creative... but I tried with Fur Elise and one of my favorite piano sonata's from Beethoven. Can't remember the number though. To be honest it sounds more like a parody on Fur Elise...

I just got to install another 256 mb RAM, nothing much happened, but I can use GPO a little bit. (only when I shut down every program on my computer...)
Most of the instruments are still EWQL. Those trombones really can make growling sounds, I just found out you had to change the velocity of the notes. I didn't do that before!!!

So how to express such emotion? I thought the tempo should be something fast and the dynamics should be forte. Atonality is a must here. (also "fear" should be something with atonality) Violin trills and tremolo's work well.

As motive and theme I used things from James Horner's OST from "Aliens", Hitoshi Sakimoto also used this theme in his FFXII OST. This motive can be heared as the violins and anvil thrusts while the pitch goes upwards. You can hear the sequence at 1:17.

2:17 has a rhythm from FFXII trailer. You know, that piece that begins with harp and nice pizzicatos and suddenly all that percussion comes in with that great rhythm.

The theme (in piano and strings) at 0:46 comes from "Metroid" I used to play on my Game Boy.

Another thing I got was from Gundam Seed OST's. Difficult to describe: this theme gives a really movie-like effect. Also composers like Holst: "The Planets" have used these sequences. You can hear this theme at: 1:07 in the trombones.

"The Matrix" has some nice scary motives. I tried to simulate this at the beginning of the song. Do you recall that brass section making dissonants in that movie?

I admit I took one modulation sequence from the song: Escape from Platos cave from Stephen Melillo 1993. Third movement. You can hear the modulation at: 2:08-2:12.
Nice sequence! la, do, mi => sib, reb, fa and back and forth.

Recently I found Titanic SF, so I just added some sound effects. I tried to kill some birds with a shotgun to accentuate the desperation. Note how the birds sing in the beginning and are dead at the end of the song.

"Hope"

I'm so proud about this one. Only composed it in 2 days for Noctaventure 4 and it has so much emotions in it. The basic thing about this song is "Warmth!" The warmth you feel when looking at all the Christmas lights on the streets and in the shopping centers. I love this feeling of people surrounding you. It gives people hope. I tried to express this.

After I listened to it I hear things from "Forrest Gump" (0:01), "Jurassic Park" (1:22), Chausson's piano quintet (0:45), Yoko Kanno's Escaflowne OST (0:50), even a theme from Suikoden 5 (3:45 in high violin)... the piano has some modulation features from Rachmaninov himself. (3:31: second piano concerto)

EWQL, Edirol, Equinox piano.

This is going on my list of music as number one.

I just finished "Wrath"!

Please check this out, I used high quality percussion instruments (GTown Church on legaltorrents.com) giving a feeling of "The Gladiator" music. The soft parts I included give a good contrast and there is one modulation sequence in there that does sound like that of FFXIII Hamuzu. (3:23-> ...) Only my modulation chords go straight ahead in tempo, Hamauzu uses a slower chord progression. But the chords are almost the same, going upwards in septime chords.

Listen to the trailer of FFXIII, the ending and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I also used the usual things that characterize Hamauzu, the violin and piano + orchestra. You might also see references to "Pride of the submarine".

Que dire ?... je suis un énorme fan de ta musique ! Depuis les premières écoutes, je n'ai pas trop changé d'avis, mais plutôt été surpris. Notamment par le choc Desperation de décembre 2006 où tu montrais ton style dissonant tiré de Don Davis. Hatred a confirmé par la suite. Decisive Duel en avril denier a aussi créé la surprise de la Mitsuda-maîtrise, même si elle se sentait déjà dans Prologue.
Hamauzu était là dans Summer Garden et Flying to the Clouds, la fraîcheur débordante de couleurs se trouvait dans Little Bunny et Presto (qui reste encore celui qui me touche le plus)

C'est vrai que tes morceaux semblaient suivre davantage leur idée propre que les thèmes donnés, et je trouve qu'ils sont vraiment à leur place dans ce type de composition "académique" !

Inutile de revenir sur le I, soigné de bout en bout, plein de relief et malgré cela très uni.

II-Scherzo est un bel équilibre entre les courses poursuites effrayées et l'humour qu'on trouve notamment à 0'28''. Les cordes sonnent très bien non ? Coté harmonie, ça coule de source. Le seul moment un peu cheap est à 1'03'' avec les deux montées chromatiques.

Le mouvement III est définitivement ultra concertant, avec un Bartok aux couleurs ravivées, le piano arrive avec cette trille sublime, puis quelques apparitions fluides (omg).

Ton mouvement IV s'isole un peu par un style un peu trop film-cinématique, et une harmonie très Holst-Mars ! Ses piaillements concertant avec les instruments se répétant le fragment de mélodie sonne assez étriqué, et ne me semble pas à la hauteur du reste. Le clin d'oeil au thème du III à la fin du IV donne de la cohérence mais ne compense pas le sentiment qu'il sonne "à part".

Pour finir, je te conseillerais d'aller plus loin dans ce travail, en essayant de reprendre IV. Pourquoi pas aussi essayer de mettre en images ou texte les idées que tu as suivies dans ces compos ? L'idée étant de fixer en détails et profondeur le sentiment derrière tout ça.
