Would you put: "Composition" into the hobbies section of your Curriculum Vitae? (preferably as Chemical Engineer)

Even better: as we all play video games: Would you say:

Hobbies: Composition, playing video games, piano...

It depends where you want to work... If I wanted to send my CV to EA, I'd write that I play videogames ^^

And how about chemical engineering? I mean if it's a hobby then it's a hobby.

I would also say that I play the piano and violin too. It says that I don't study so much all the time and still get good grades.

It's not entirely bad:

That's a real reason to put it on my CV.

I don't want to work for people who don't accept me as a normal person.

From my own experience, it isn't a good thing to write down that you play video games nor you are a composer on your CV. Don't even say out that you play video games (except if you send your CV to a video game company or any job related to video games of course)...

You can write that you play the piano or any other instruments : this is a very positive thing. 99% of the time, the interviewer will ask you : "Do you play classical music ?" --> This is time to say that you compose also. The interviewer will think you have amazing hidden skills and that you are a very modest person to not write it on your CV.

I don't think writing anything "out of topic" on a CV is a good thing. Let the interviewer ask you. Then if you get the job, you will have time to prove and show your different skills.

Ah okay, and should I write my diploma of piano on the CV or not? And composition is a good thing. Why not put it on the CV?

Anyway I think it's a good idea to let the interviewer ask about the piano playing and then I talk about composing and orchestras, bands...

How about writing in the CV that I have experience in playing with bands and orchestras? I think that is relevant to show him that I have some team spirit/company interaction skills.

I guess nobody likes video gamers...

I think christoph had a good point.
If you apply for an Engineer position they like to know that you are creative and you have other passion in life that engineering it makes you be a stable personne but if you mention composing the interviewer could think that you are spending a lot of time and energy on that. But during the interview you can explain that you occasianly compose wich makes you be a creative person.

Do not mention video games that looks stupid for an engineer position.

Well, I'll make video gaming a well hidden secret then.

I wonder who voted yes other than me...
I'm also using a yellow paper, how's that? I should have the only CV with a colour so it stands out a bit. More chance to be selected.

PS: if he asks what music do you listen to: is it advisable to say VGM or not? I really like VGM, but when people hear "video game" they turn into "Death mode" against you.

I actually once said to the orchestra to play VGM (Rhapsody of Hamauzu in my mind), I would make the scores and they all turned bad on me. Laughing at me... I hate that orchestra. (but I managed to play Chopin Concerto no. 1 with them)
