Hey: watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYA22cNtQ4Y

Cavalier au Salop is based on that piece, I'm naughty I know...

I can play it pretty good now, but a bit slower than mister Sung, maybe he's family of mine I'm also a mister Sung.

Very impressive to watch, but when you only keep listening, maybe the technique is mastered in spite of the technique... don't you think ? I'm talking about this piece, of course I haven't seen anything else from this keyboarder. But probably Ginastera wanted his work to be played this fast.

Yes it's the right tempo, and the pianist even played something else than it was written, because the jumps were much too big.

There is a passage where the left hand has to go one meter in a quarter of a second. That's 4-6 metres a second!!!!

Some organists wrote songs like that, I'm thinking about Jehan Alain (@Shadoko : ;)) with a passage when he told the player to do whatever he can (or even want !) because what is written is technically totally unplayable (Litanies). This reminds me of John Cage, which, as a pianist, you should know...

John Cage is not really my speciality.

Here's the score:

The passage you can look at is at the bottom of page 19. Mr. Sung played it wrong! Mr. Sung also played this completely wrong: measure 7 on page 20.

Of course I found it myself, I'm playing the piece now, and it's getting pretty good too. Not all that difficult, it's only those octaves, I can't seem to get those clear at that tempo.

What's that baby doing? I don't get it.

That 4'33" piece is just idiotic... it should feel really embarassing to play that. :?

Just forget the baby. I find 4:33 is one of the greatest piano pieces in the world. It's a matter of concept. Just what makes difference between "music for music" and music as art.

Pourquoi ? La musique sans silence n'est rien... Et le silence qui suit Mozart n'est-il pas de Mozart ?

Disons que conceptuellement, c'est assez énorme... mais musicalement ça n'a pas grand intérêt :D

PS : For those who haven't read the text on the screen (which is normal because it's hidden ^^) that says : "You are invited to set the volume of your tv on zero and listen to any ambient sound that surrounds you."
